Closing on the House and Moving to the Rental

This journey to return overseas has been quite a ride.  We started with a suspected timeline of about 6 months in the fall of 2019. A year and a half later our timeline is still uncertain.  What's not uncertain is our call to GO.  So we are moving forward and have been amazed over and over at God's provision.

In October we put our home on the market and it sold in a weekend.  The buyer graciously allowed us to stay in the house until the New Year so that we could have one last Christmas season there.

The next hurdle was finding a temporary place to land until it was time to leave Central FL.  Many prayers were prayed and one evening at dinner we received a call saying, I think I have a rental for you a couple streets away!  Not only that, but the price was one only God could have arranged.

We didn't pack anything until the kids returned to school after Christmas.  But then it was GO time.  So many friends came over to help.  We packed and moved and sorted ALL THE THINGS!!  The kids each packed a trunk of toys and special items they wanted to take with them.  We had yard sales two weekends back to back.  I was so proud of how the children did seeing most everything we owned in the driveway ready to be sold, most of it for $1 or less.  They had moments but God was so gracious to have special people there at just the right time speaking into their lives.

The rental is so comfortable and homey.  I worried with most of our belongings gone it would feel cold but it doesn't.  It was a good reminder of how little we really need.

I couldn't have guessed...

I saw this on the kitchen counter and thought, why did he use a ladle? Are there no clean spoons? I checked the drawer and there were plenty of spoons. I had to ask and he replied, “I was in a hurry and I thought it would be faster.”  BOYS!!

New Year

We like to celebrate New Year's with a countdown of surprise activities that keep us all awake until midnight.  This year everyone in the house made it to midnight.  I'm pretty sure that is a first!!  We had  a scavenger hunt, made glitter slime, put together a puzzle, cooked dinner together, did our Year in Review, watched a movie, shot fireworks, watched a 2020 slideshow and toasted our sparkling grape juice at midnight!!
